MEET OUR INTERNS
My name is Derica Jones, a sophomore, Political Science major and Criminal Justice minor from Barnwell, South Carolina at Claflin University. On campus, I serve as a Peer Mentor and Orientation Leader for first year students. On my down time, I enjoy reading, writing poetry and empowering the youth and community. My career ambition is to become a criminal defense attorney and provide representation for those who are underserved, rejected and systematically oppressed. Eventually, my dream is to open my own firm and provide guidance to the next generation of attorneys. I am honored to serve as an intern for the organization and I can’t wait to get to work!
Marketing & Promotion
Born into the historic year of 2000, in the cultivating city of Charleston, SC. Raised in the small yet family-oriented town of Huger, SC with high regard for my late father Russell E. Dickerson Sr. and my selfless mother, Tonya L. Dickerson. I am proud to call these two amazing individuals my parents. A quote from a poem, written by Langston Huges that epitomizes my life and career goals is, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.”
Despite my tragedies, I am driven and determined to accomplish my career goals of becoming the CEO of my own Fortune 500 Company, an author, and a social media influencer. With my passion for the retail industry and entertainment industry overflowing, I have taken the initiative by creating a YouTube channel - LaShay Amor- to influence the media. I cater to all ages, using my platform to be the change that I want to see. Recently, I just formed the first of any LLCs. Life has presented me with so many tragic obstacles, but I continue to press forward and follow my dreams no matter how hard or seemingly impossible they might seem. “You can either choose to wait around and hope life gives you what you want—or you can choose to jump up and put in the work to make your dream come true.” ― Oscar Auliq-Ice
